Beach pails

Such a welcome sight after what seems like a long winter! I picked up a bunch of these for a project I have in the works.

Lightning fast

My baby is growing so very quickly. I remember thinking that I didn't have to worry about feeding him solids because I was going to start that when he turns six months and to me, six months was so far far far away. Well, folks, next week, my sugar bear will be six months old! Can you believe it? Time flew by so quickly! I just ordered his high chair today. Lord knows I put it off long enough. But men! My baby is not so babyish any longer. Now, when I walk past itty bitty two month old babies in the store, I can't help but wonder when my munchkin grew out of that stage. Now he's so much more like an older baby and I miss my itty bitty baby stage already. Solids!

To a younger me

A couple of weeks ago, I had a conversation with one of my coworkers who is single and without kids. I recall telling him that if I could give any advice to my younger unmarried self, the first thing I'd say is "travel, travel! Travel!!" Well, that conversation got me thinking about what else I'd say to a younger me. I came up with the following:
  • Enjoy yourself, and I mean thoroughly enjoy yourself. Go to parties, hang out with friends, meet new people, don't be too serious, and more importantly, don't take yourself so seriously.
  • Cut yourself some slack. You're not perfect so don't be too hard on yourself if you mess up in any way. Pick yourself up and keep it moving!
  • Laugh more. Laugh a LOT, in fact.
  • Travel! With friends, solo, whatever. Especially solo! I took only one or two solo trips but I always really enjoyed myself. I should have taken more solo trips instead of being swayed by others around me who kept harping that solo trips are weird. Be you, Do you!
  • Be more spontaneous! Hmm, using the term "more" leads one to assume that I was at least a little spontaneous, which unfortunately was not the case at all. So I'll rephrase that and say Be spontaneous!
  • Take risks! financially, in business, you name it, you take it!

Hair!

My munchkin was born with a full head of hair as expected (all that heartburn I endured surely had to be caused my a full mane on my bub). However, as is usually the case with African babies, a lot of his hair fell out as the months wore on. That, coupled with the serious cradle cap munchkin had, aggravated the loss of his hair. Some parts of his head became totally devoid of hair that it was only smooth skin left to touch. Lo and behold, fast forward to this week and well, wouldn't you know it, hair! The formerly skin smooth scalp now has a wee bit o' hair growing out of it. See!!
I'm so excited! I can't wait to see him with a full head of hair again :)!

Back to life...

I survived my first week back at work. I took an extra long maternity leave, 4 months, but when last week rolled around, I still wasn't ready to go back to work. Honestly, I dreaded the mere thought of going back. If I could, I'd turn in my two weeks notice and become a stay at home mom. Unfortunately, that's not financially feasible right now. Back to reality...:(
